Conference USA Volleyball Schedule
UTSA Roadrunners

Head volleyball coach Laura Neugebauer leads the Roadrunners into a

schedule with 11 non-conference matches...six against Power 5

conference schools and six with teams that played in the NCAA

Tournament last season.

"We've always set up our schedule to play hard at the beginning of the

season," Neugebauer-Groff said. "In the last couple of years, we've been

fortunate to knock off some of these schools that are in Power 5

conferences, which in turn boosts our RPI.

"Receiving an invitation to play in these tournaments and compete

against these high caliber teams allows us to prepare for the teams we

need to defeat in conference. Like we've seen recently, everyone in our

league is very competitive. When you reach the NCAAs they will face

teams like these. It just sets a parameter for our young kids to see what is

out there."

opportunity to challenge our growth from the spring," Crawford said.

"With the addition of our newcomers and returners, I believe we have

started the process of being able to consistently compete at a higher

FIU takes on three teams that qualified for the post season a year ago,

"I think our non-conference schedule is a good one to prepare us for the

range of teams we will face in Conference USA and the tournament,"

said FIU Head Coach Rita Buck-Crockett.

"We must experience all levels of competition during this part of the

season. Our team will definitely be challenged throughout and we will

Techsters squad and features three teams that had a sub-100 RPI during

the 2016 season, including the Rebels, North Dakota (26-10) and St. Louis

"Our non-conference slate will force our team to be very focused from

the first weekend. I believe our players will understand early in the

season, the need be intentionally aggressive in every point they

compete for," de Souza said.

us an opportunity to compete against quality teams in the region and

across the country."

August 25th and 26th will officially begin the new year as Belmont,

Southern Utah, Elon and South Carolina State all join the 49ers for the

annual Charlotte Invitational. Four matches each day, Friday and

Saturday, will make up opening weekend for all four teams.

The first standalone match of the year arrives n the following Tuesday as

Charlotte hits the road for the first time traveling to UNCG in Greensboro.

A weekend trip to Georgia Southern for three matches with Bethune

Cookman, North Florida and host GSU begins the month of September

before returning home to face USC Upstate on Wednesday the 6th.

last season's meeting.

Seven of the 14 league matches will come inside Halton Arena with the

two non-conference tilts against USC Upstate and Davidson along with

the season-opening Charlotte Invitational will make up the home portion

of the 30-game slate.

"It's always great to open the year at home," continued the third-year

and the city of Charlotte. "Our preseason schedule will help us continue

to develop and challenge this young group as we take the program to

the next level."
