Pac 12 Volleyball Schedule


Non-conference competition in the Pac 12 volleyball schedule historically

one of the toughest conferences, begins the weekend of August 25.


Defending NCAA Champion STANFORD leads six ranked Pac-

12 volleyball teams in the American Volleyball Coaches Association

(AVCA) Preseason Coaches poll while two-time defending Pac-

12 Champion WASHINGTON was ranked third.


The other Pac 12 teams in the top 25 are:

#13 UCLA

#18 OREGON

#23 UTAH 

# 24 ARIZONA 


#1 ranked Washington, picked to win the Pac 12 conference this season by

the coaches hosts Pittsburgh on August 25

#2 Stanford opens at Long Beach State on August 25

#3 Oregon 

#4 Utah


The Pac 12 Conference consists of the following 12 teams in the order

they were ranked in the AVCA Coaches poll:

Arizona





Aug. 26

Cats open up the season at the LUV Invitational in Nashville,

Tennessee. Arizona opens the season against East Tennessee State and

Lipscomb on Saturday, Aug. 26 before taking on Middle Tennessee on

Sunday, Aug. 27.


 Sept. 1 and 2

UA opens its home slate the following week when it hosts

Eastern Kentucky, Grand Canyon and Radford in the Wildcat Classic





Cal Bears



The Bears have their work cut out for them this year.

A new coach, a "New team, "new" is the theme word for  this season.

Everything old, will be new again. 


Cal opens the season Aug. 25 against UC Irvine at the Cal Molten

Classic at Haas Pavilion.


  • 15 matches against opponents that reached the NCAA Tournament last year 
  • The Bears will also be televised 12 times by the Pac-12 Networks.


Aug. 25-26 

The Bears open the season in the Molten Classic at Haas

Pavilion, where Cal hosts UC Irvine, Loyola-Chicago and Seattle

University


Sept. 1-2

The Golden Bears hosts Dartmouth, Eastern Washington and

Texas Tech to Berkeley for the Cal Classic.


Sept. 8-9 

Cal will play in the Rice Tournament in Houston Incarnate Word, Rice and

Louisiana. 


The Bears will then return to Northern California to close out the

nonconference schedule against Saint Mary's on Sept. 15 and at Pacific on

Sept. 16.


Cal opens the Pac-12 season at defending NCAA champion Stanford on

Sept. 20 on the Pac-12 Networks.


Cal ends the regular season with four straight home

matches.



Arizona State Sundevils



The Maroon and Gold's three-week preseason slate will culminate in the

team hosting its Maroon & Gold scrimmage Sat., Aug. 19 at 4 p.m. PT. 

 

Aug. 25-26

For the first time since 2011, Arizona State opens the season at home in

the Wells Fargo Arena, as the Maroon and Gold will play host to the Sun

Devil Classic.

New coach Sanja Tomasevic and the Sun Devils welcome Weber State,

Boise State and North Dakota State 


Sep. 1-2
 
Arizona State then travels for three consecutive weeks, beginning with a trek to

Spokane, Wash., Sep. to compete against Nevada, Gonzaga and Portland

State.



Sep. 8-9

The Sun Devils will hop on Interstate 17, traveling compete in the NAU

Tournament.

The Maroon and Gold will face off with Cal State Bakersfield

and host Northern Arizona on Fri., Sep. 8, before wrapping up the trip with

a match against Utah State.


Sep. 15-16

The Sun Devils will round out the non-conference slate at the UT Arlington-

hosted Maverick Classic.


Arizona State will take on Lamar Fri., Sep. 15 followed by a pair of

meetings with Houston Baptist and Texas Arlington respectively on Sep.

16.



Sep. 21 

The Sun Devils kickoff their 2017 Pac-12 slate on Thursday,

with the Maroon and Gold slated to play host to

conference rival Arizona in the 2017-18 Territorial Cup Series ® opener.


The match will represent Arizona State's Pac-12 Network debut for the

season. 



Colorado Buffs



Colorado will have 13 matches, seven home and six away, featured this

volleyball season on Pac-12 Networks.


All 13 of those matches are against Pac-12 opponents.



Sept. 22 

The Buffs start the Pac-12 slate with the first of three

straight TV matches, beginning against Utah in Salt Lake City



Sept. 24 

CU next game against 2016 NCAA Champion Stanford at Coors Events

Center in Boulder.



Oregon Ducks



Oregon will play its season opener on Friday at Exactech Arena against No.

5 Nebraska at 2 p.m. PT before facing top-ranked Texas, last year's NCAA

runner-up, on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PT. 




Oregon State Beavers



OSU Hosts Beaver State Classic opening weekend


• Oregon State opens the 2017 season this weekend when it hosts the Beaver State Classic at Gill Coliseum


The Beavers square off with Idaho on Friday at 10 a.m. to open the tournament.

• OSU also takes on Pacific Friday evening at 7 p.m.


• The Beavers conclude the tourney by hosting Kansas State at 7 p.m. on Saturday.





Stanford Cardinals



The Stanford Cardinal won its seventh all-time NCAA title in 2016, tying

with Penn State for the most ever by a team.


It also gave the Pac 12 Conference its 15th NCAA crown in the sport,

leading all conferences.







UCLA Bruins

August 25 - 27

The 2017 season begins in Honolulu, Hawai'i, as the Bruins take part in the

Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational.


UCLA faces San Diego on Friday, at 7:45 p.m. PT, Marquette on Saturday,

and host Hawai'i on Sunday, Aug. 27 


Sept 1 - 2

UCLA heads to the NMSU SpringHill Suites Tournament in Las Cruces,

N.M., facing host New Mexico State (Friday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. PT) and

UNLV (Saturday, Sept. 2 at 9 a.m. PT).


Sept 8 - 9

The Bruins go to Lincoln, Neb. for a two-match series at Nebraska on

Friday, with both contests starting at 5 p.m. PT.



The first home match of the 2017 campaign will take place at the John

Wooden Center, as UCLA hosts Loyola Marymount in a Wednesday, Sept.

13 matinee at 2 p.m.


That contest will also be the first of 15 televised on Pac-12 Networks. The

non-conference schedule concludes on Friday, Sept.  15 with a 7 p.m.

match at Long Beach State.



USC Trojans



The Women of Troy will appear on television 15 times this season including

once on ESPNU.


USC will appear on the Pac-12 Network's national and regional channels

the other 14 times.


The Trojans are scheduled to face 11 teams that earned NCAA tournament 

bids in 2016, which includes four regional finalists and defending national

champion Stanford.



In non-league tournaments, the Women of Troy open the season on Friday,

Aug. 25, against Loyola Marymount at 11 a.m. PT at Gersten Pavilion.


The Lions and Trojans are joint hosts for the first weekend's tournament.

USC draws Michigan in its first home match and will take on the Wolverines

at 8 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Los Angeles. Michigan was an NCAA regional

semifinalist in 2016.


Sept. 1 -2

Bluejay Invitational hosted by Creighton

USC heads to Omaha, Neb.where the Trojans and the Bluejays face each

other on Saturday (Sept. 2) at 12:30 p.m. CT.

 

USC faces Kentucky and Northern Iowa in the same tourney. All three

teams were NCAA tournament teams last fall with Creighton advancing to

the regional finals.



Sept 8 -9

USC goes up the California coast for a three-match tournament at UC

Santa Barbara's Thunderdome. The Trojans open the tourney against

Arkansas and will also face Yale. USC and UCSB meet at 7 p.m. on Friday

(Sept. 8).


Sept. 14 - 15

In their final two non-conference matches, the Trojans head across the

country to meet Maryland and Oklahoma in the Maryland Challenge at

Xfinity Pavilion in College Park, Md.


Sept. 20

USC's conference schedule opens with a matchup against crosstown rival

UCLA. The teams will clash on ESPNU with first serve set for 8 p.m. PT at

Pauley Pavilion.

Utah Utes



The Utes are picked to finish in the Pac 12 Preseason Volleyball Coaches

Poll.



Utah remains on the road next weekend, heading to Honolulu, Hawaii, to

compete in the Rainbow Wahine Classic. The Utes will take on South

Dakota (Aug. 31), Western Carolina (Sept. 1) and Hawaii (Sept. 3) in the

event.


The 2017 Utah Utes competing in the Bluegrass Battle at Memorial Coliseum in

Lexington, Ky.

The No. 23-ranked Utes will open the season against Cincinnati this Friday, Aug.

25. Utah will follow with  matches against No. 14-ranked Kentucky (Aug. 25)

and Arkansas State (Aug. 26).

 


Washington Huskies



Coughing..becomes cool in the Huskies hype video.....wait for it.....

·         Washington was picked No. 1 in the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll, and voted No. 3 in the national preseason rankings.

·         Washington is one of five programs to have made five consecutive Sweet 16s or better (others are BYU, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas)

·         Courtney Schwan (Auburn, Wash.) is the returning Pac-12 Player of the Year and leads a group of seven seniors that includes All-American outside hitter Crissy Jones and All-American setter Bailey Tanner.

·         Seventeen UW matches will be televised live on Pac-12 Washington and one on ESPNU.

·         Huskies are seeking their fifth Final Four appearance and first since 2013.


 



Washington State Cougars


WSU Head  coach Jen Greeny and her Cougars start the season at West

Point on August 31 - September 1 to confront Army, Alabama and Seton

Hall.
