with a match against Lehigh at West Point on September 20.

Bucknell Bison

Bucknell started their preseason training camp with seven new incoming

freshmen and welcomed a new head volleyball coach Anna Allison after

Cindy Opalski stepped down in January.

This season is expected to be a period of new beginnings for coaches

and players alike as the Bison who finished with a 9 - 20 overall record,

3 - 11 in the Patriot League really have nowhere to look, but up.

For the past 8 years Coach Allison has developed her craft as the first

assistant coach responsible for guiding the setters and recruiting players

to Bucknell.

She has scheduled an aggressive preseason tournament schedule

starting with a trip to Philadelphia for the La Salle Invitational to face

Sacramento State, Fairleigh Dickinson and La Salle on August 31 -

September 1.

Coach Allison takes her team on back-to-back road

tournaments heading to the Cornell tournament on September 6 - 7

with Bucknell, Iona and Cornell.

Then they return home to host the Bucknell Invitational in Davis Gym

to face Fairleigh-Dickinson, Canisius and Rider on September 13 - 14.

Holy Cross is the first opponent on Bucknell's Patriot League volleyball

schedule on September 20.

Colgate Raiders

Last season's defending Patriot League champions the Raiders

were picked to finish third on the coaches preseason poll.

Colgate who upset top ranked American in the Patriot League playoffs

return four starters, two of who are seniors named to the All Patriot

Preseason Team.

Heading into his eight season head coach Ryan Baker will lead his team

into a challenging Patriot League volleyball schedule starting with their

very own tournament hosted on their home volleyball court the

Cotterell Court where teams from St. John's, Binghamton, Central

Connecticut come to do battle on August 30 -31.

After the Classic, Coach Ryan Baker and his Lady Bison travel to New

Haven, Connecitcut for the Yale Classic to compete against Seton Hall,

Missouri and Yale on September 6 - 7.

The next weekend they are in Brooklyn, New York for the Blackbird

Invitational to play against Fairfield, LIU Brooklyn and Cornell on

September 13 - 14.

For the second weekend in a row, Bucknell goes on the road to the NC

Invitational to test themselves against Virginia Commonwealth,

Wisconsin and North Carolina State on September 20 - 21.

Army is the first match on the Patriot League volleyball schedule for the

Lady Bison on Friday, September 27 at home.

Holy Cross Crusaders

The first of three preseason tournaments for the team from holy Cross

starts with the Crusader Classic with matches against Sacred Heart,

Stony Brook and Manhattan on August 30 - 31.

The Harvard Invitational is next on September 6 - 7 where the

Crusaders face Hofstra and Harvard on consecutive days of competition.

A non conference match is scheduled against Hartford at home on the

Crusaders home volleyball court, the Holy Cross Field House before the

Crusaders head to Brown for the Brown Invitational with Eastern

Michigan, Bryant and Brown on September 13 - 14.

September 18 marks the first day of competition for Holy Cross on their

Patriot League volleyball schedule when they face Bucknell at home.

Lafayette Leopards

A cross town trip to the La Salle Tournament is the first competition of

the season on August 31 - September 1 where the Leopards face

Sacramento State, La Salle and Fairleigh Dickinson.

Two home tournaments are next on the Leopards home volleyball court

the Kirby Sports Center where on September 6 - 7 face Wright State,

Fairleigh Dickinson again and St. Peter's before participating in a non

conference midweek match on September 10 against St. Francis (NY).

The Crosstown Tournament is on September 13 - 14 where Marist,

Quinnipiac and Morgan State come to town to fight for a tournament

title.

September 18 marks the first important date on the Leopards Patriot

league volleyball schedule where they face Lehigh at LeHigh.

Lehigh Mountain Hawks

Like many other Patriot League teams the Lady Mountain Hawks host

their first tournament on their home volleyball court, the Leeman-

Turner Arena at Grace Hall where they've invited New Hampshire,

Saint Peter's and Rhode Island for a two-day event on August 30 - 31.

Fairleigh Dickinson, Wright State and Saint Peter's come to town the

next weekend for the Lafayette College Tournament title on September

6 - 7  before they go up against Villanova in another non-conference

match on September 10 at home.

The Patriot League volleyball schedule starts on September 18 with a

league match at home against Lafayette.

Loyola Maryland Greyhounds

The Greyhounds are the new kids on the block making 2013 the first

year they compete in the Patriot League.

Having migrated from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference volleyball

race where the MAAC coaches predicted in the preseason poll that they

would finish eighth, the Greyhounds ended the season in sixth place

with a 13 - 15 record after a tough loss to Siena on Senior Day.

Leading the team this year is senior Jac Bullock named to last season's

All-MAAC conference second team and had the league's top hitting

percentage a .337.

a new conference for the Lady Greyhounds who begin theie tournament

calendar with a road trip to North Carolina for the Appalachian State

Invitational on August 30 to face Norfolk State, Sam Houston State and

host Appalachian State.

Three incoming freshmen

“For the most part,” said Bock, who is entering his seventh season on The Yard, “the returners appear to be in better volleyball shape for the first day of practice than in any of my previous seasons here. It looks as if they –– again, for the most part –– did a good job this summer of physically preparing for volleyball. They even got together and trained as a group not that long ago. All of that has the potential to pay dividends down the road, but right now we are still just getting into the car and haven’t yet started to head to that road.”

The Midshipmen begin their season as hosts of the Kristen Dieckmann

Invitational tournament on August 25-26 in Alumni Hall in Akron Ohio.
