Producing Powerful Peaceful Players, Issue #002 -- Partner Passing Drills Help Ball Control
May 29, 2025
Hi

What You Can Do To Improve Your Passing Skills This Summer?

Hi there,

Ever had one of those days where your body just says, "Hey, it's

time to move"? That's what happened to me today.

Getting Back in Shape, One Squat at a Time

That's what happened to me today.

It's a couple of days after Memorial Day, and I got this strong

urge to jump back into my fitness routine. I've been off for two

months, so I decided to start small with 100 squats. No, I

definitely didn't hit 100 all at once, though.

Instead, I did 5 sets of 25.

Not perfect, but it's a start, right?

The Day My Body Said, "It's Time!"

This yearly tradition always seems to shake me up.

It's like my body knows summer's near, and it's prep time for some

serious volleyball coaching in hot summer weather.

Those baby steps I took today?

They're my 'go-to' move for building physical strength (for

hitting balls at players) and boosting inner

confidence. (Yes, us private coaches and trainers feel more

confident when we're in better shape.)

From Holiday Mode to Grind Mode

Getting better at volleyball is the same way. Small, steady steps lead to big results.

Whether you're dealing with passing issues or just want to

improve other basic skills,

consistently putting in specifically focused skill drills is what works.

Summer Volleyball Shape-Up: Passing Drills

Are you interested in boosting your passing skills?

Check out my detailed guide on partner passing drills.

After I used a lot of these types of passing drills to improve

my own game to the point where I became a 3-time All American and

a member of the US National team.

I taught these same types of partner passing drills to my

Gatorade Player of the Year clients like

Sydney Berenyi 2016-2017 Gatorade Player of the Year for Nevada

and two-time Gatorade Player of the Year and multiple-time Gorman

state champion, Tommi Stockham who's been a First Team All-

Conference starting outside hitter at Cal Poly for the past three

years.

(Both of these standout players are only two examples of the many

elite level private training I've trained, since retiring as an international professional

volleyball player and moved to Las Vegas more than 18 years ago.)

I've spent years perfecting these passing drills and techniques while I was a USA High Performance (now called the USA NDTP

program) coach and evaluator while coaching America's best of the

best high school athletes who were evaluated in order to qualify

to make a United States Junior National and/or Youth National boy

or girls teams helping players turn their weaknesses into

strengths.
