NCAA Volleyball Selection Show: Watch What Happens When Players React

The NCAA Volleyball Selection show is a televised broadcast watched by coaches and players at "watch parties" where the 64 teams in the womens championship playoffs are announced

Are you excited for the 2023 NCAA Volleyball Selection Show?

Of the over 330 women's volleyball teams in Division I, only 64 teams with their coaching staff, coaches families, players, players families and fans from all over the country, have formal or informal "watch parties" where they

  • wait to see who they play against and
  • whether they will have to travel to get there

which leads to a ton of suspense and drama for those hoping for a good seed and a chance to play in front of their home crowd at least in the first round of playoffs.

The NCAA Volleyball Selection Show is a tradition cherished by players, coaches, and fans alike.

Here's everything you need to know:

When: The NCAA Volleyball Selection Show is scheduled to air on November 26, 2023 at 6pm EST..

Where: Tune in to ESPN to catch the live broadcast of this exciting event.

What is the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show?

The NCAA Volleyball Selection Show is an annual postseason spectacle that brings everyone together to witness the drama of the unveiling of the top 64 teams participating in the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship.

Did you know that there's an NCAA Volleyball Selection Show for DII?

Watch the selection show for the 2023 NCAA Division II women's volleyball championship bracket reveal. Selections were revealed on Nov. 20, 2023.

Picture this: players huddled around screens in local eateries, teammates' homes, coaches' places, or even gathered around an off-campus bonfire.

There's an NCAA Volleyball Selection Show for Division III women's volleyball as well!

Watch the full selection show for the 2023 NCAA Division III women's volleyball championship bracket reveal. 64 teams were selected to this year's field on Nov. 13, 2023.

This shared anticipation creates an incredible atmosphere as players, teams, and their supporters eagerly await to find out their opponents and whether they'll need to travel for the games.

Every year, the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show never fails to deliver surprises, drama, arguments and conversations among fans and experts after giving their predictions about teams who've been picked to begin to play on:

Nov 30 - Dec 2: First and Second Rounds

Dec 7 & 9: Regionals on ESPN2 & ESPNU

Dec 14: National Semifinals on ESPN

Decc 17: National Championships

What creates so much drama and anticipation during the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show?

Every year, the tension builds up because of the drama due to the fact that one or more of the top ranked teams in the country end up getting a seed that they and their fans are disappointed with.

Take, for example, this year the top four seeds were

  • Nebraska
  • Stanford
  • Wisconsin
  • Pittsburgh

Guess who's missing?

Did I hear you say TEXAS?

Texas with one of the most formidable lineups, prolific point scoring hitters and phenomenal liberos who keep everything off the floor was a surprise having been left out of the top four spots.

Ironically, it was TEXAS that went on to clinch the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship title in 2023 with a win over Nebraska in the finals.

These unexpected turns are what make watching the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show so drama-filled and exhilarating!

It adds an extra layer of intrigue and excitement to the already intense playoff tournament volleyball rank system.

The suspense and drama fill the air as each of the top 64 qualified teams hopes for favorable seeding and the opportunity to compete in front of their home crowd in the first round of playoffs.

If your team has to travel to play then you have to play in front of an opposing team's crowd whereas if you get to stay at home then your team has the home town advantage playing in front of a crowd that can come and support your team and its considered favorable odds for the team that gets to play on their own home court.

So every year there's drama and conversation surrounding the top team's playoff tournament volleyball rank system...but that's what makes watching the NCAA volleyball selection show...so much fun!
