I love digging and defense and I love coaching dig and defensive drills so we do alot of them for liberos and players in other positions in my clinics and private trainings.
So I made a collection of some of my volleyball dig quotes and comments that I've shared on Instagram with my followers.
Christian and Kenny timing their hits while Izzy and Lena get digging reps in… in private training session.

Congratulations to Izzy (Isabella Spinella) the youngest player on her 8th grade @tmsmustangs team .. that just won rings after their NCSAA championship final win!

Way to put in the work!👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾.
Working on staying on your feet to deliver a free ball right to the target without making the target move (me in this case) vs. having to hit the floor to make an emergency play to dig a ball up. (Volume up)
In this case I wasn’t counting but in most cases we’d have to get a certain number of balls right to the target and playable balls up in defense in order to stop the drill.

Had THE BEST time in our privates today with Ari (volume up) working on digging line.

Working on
✔️keeping shoulders in front of knees
✔️putting hands together to form platform earlier
✔️dropping hips before contacting the ball
✔️😎😎doin the splits is optional😍😍💪🏾💪🏾👏🏾👏🏾💙💙💙

This post has almost one million views and its about the reaction to my client Ariella digging and doing the splits.
Check out the comments and my volleyball dig quotes on Instagram.
Working with @joli.volleyball on putting hands together earlier when digging line.
Many times players wait too long before putting their hands together … especially when they have to dig line where they have less time to react.
Once a hitter is in the air and has committed to the beginning of their arm swing … hands should be close to or already together..
So happy Cass is back💙🧡❤️but not for long… month of August means .. Gettin ready for college season…..let’s goo!
Getting @sierraa.leones right before year 2 at college. Miss you already Miss Pacman!!

Izzy working on digging technique during semiprivate training on Thursdays.
Both in semiprivate training and month of May Libero clinics Izzy has been really working on reading
👉🏾the body language of the hitter,
👉🏾hitter’s arm speed when contacting the balland
👉🏾presenting the correct angled platform
so the ball is a settable ball that’s high and drops right at or just inside the ten foot line.
Also working on technique consistency being able to repeat the same movements correctly with each dig.
Great improvement Izzy!

Super girl is back💪🏾💪🏾missed you Addi!
I love the Hit and Dig Ball Control warmup drill because…
…you get to work on good spiking technique while your partner works on reading and good digging technique…both with the ultimate goal of controlling the ball to your intended target.

Ella works on reaching high ..keeping elbow above the level of her ear ….and Carm in defense…works on presenting the right angle with her platform so that the ball is dug right back to her target ..in this case Ella…without making E move any steps.

I share alot of individual, partner and easy-to-do volleyball serving drills we do in class with my followers.
Many of these volleyball practice drills you can do at home by yourself or try at your next practice with your teammates.
If you're a B team or JV player trying to make varsity next year...your goal should be to complete 1000 reps a day of at least three of the basic skills on your own...volleyball passing, serving and setting should be at the top of the list.
Here are three options:
