Having travelled all over the world to play volleyball I learned that all touches well all types of touches are good for your game.
Even if you have a messy hit or a messy touch not all referees will call it so I'm not saying don't be technical, but I am saying you can work on contacting and touching the ball with all your body parts because volleyball can get messy as well.
About once a week or once every two weeks I like to work on unpredictable "messy" stuff so when that ball comes at you really fast and you may not have time to create a perfect pass with your platform you have practiced how to react with quick reflexes in order to get the ball up.
Here's a mix of front set high balls and back set high balls then back set to your partner
One hand set then hit to your partner who digs and repeats.
On the court with Tusculum College (Shaun Kampshoff), Vanguard University (Kenny Buen) and GCU (Jacob Ceci).
Set right hand, set left hand then control the down ball pepper hit to your partner with Kate (BYU) and Shaun (Tusculum).

I share alot of individual, partner and easy-to-do volleyball serving drills we do in class with my followers.
Many of these volleyball practice drills you can do at home by yourself or try at your next practice with your teammates.
If you're a B team or JV player trying to make varsity next year...your goal should be to complete 1000 reps a day of at least three of the basic skills on your own...volleyball passing, serving and setting should be at the top of the list.
