Kerri Walsh Volleyball Player 3-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Profile 

They're simply "Misty & Kerri." Joining forces in 2001, they would be the team to beat for over 10 years, culminating in an amazing 3 straight Olympic Gold Medals...a feat unlikely to happen in beach volleyball ever again.

An accomplished athlete, Kerri made her Olympic debut back in 2000.

Her last Olympic appearance was in 2016, and she has become one of the biggest names in Olympic volleyball, being the most-decorated player in that Olympic sport of all time.

College Career

Walsh went to Stanford University on a volleyball scholarship.

At Stanford, she experienced an enormous amount of success, with her team winning 90% of all it’s matches.

She was also selected as first team All-American for four consecutive years. This made her the second player in history to be a first team pick for each of her four years at college.

Olympic Volleyball Career

The Athens 2004 Olympics proved to be incredibly successful for Walsh, who was partnered with Misty May-Treanor. The pair won the gold, and managed this without losing a single set (D.   • Walsh has made five Olympic appearances and last played at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
  • At the Sydney games in 2000 she managed a fourth-place finish
  • The Athens 2004 Olympics proved to be incredibly successful for Walsh, who was partnered with Misty May-Treanor. The pair won the gold, and managed this without losing a single set
  • The Beijing Olympics of 2008 again proved to be a successful run. The gold medal was presented to Walsh and May-Treanor again. This pair finished the Games with a streak of 108 matches unbeaten
  • London 2012 was the final time for the unbeaten pair. They took gold once more
  • Walsh made an appearance at the 2016 Games in Rio, her final run. In a shocking defeat in the semi-final match, Walsh and her partner April Ross were beaten by Brazil

USA Volleyball Career



Walsh has had a tremendous run while playing for USA Volleyball. Her career kickoff was in 2003 at the Greece Open. Here, she took bronze, but it was just the start of what would turn out to be an illustrious international career.


Highlights:

  • 2003 Stavanger Open, took her first silver
  • Gstaad Open in 2003, first gold gained
  • In 2014 she took gold at the Moscow Grand Slam

  • Kerri was pregnant at the 2012 Olympics, (She was five weeks pregnant in fact)
  • Kerri is a college graduate, which is rarer than you might think in professional volleyball
  • She has admitted her big celebrity crush is Leonardo DiCaprio
  • One summer she dislocated her right shoulder twice,and continued to play that season after having surgery
  • She has an adorable nickname, which her husband gave her when they first met. He called her ‘Six Feet of Sunshine’. Kerri is actually 6’3
